Reflections on the quest to follow Jesus on His terms instead of my own...
"I fully realize that I've not succeeded at answering all your questions. Indeed I feel that I've not answered any of them completely. The answers I have found only work to raise a whole new set of questions which only lead to more questions - some of which we weren't even aware were problems in the first place. To sum up -- in some ways I feel that we are as confused as ever, but I do believe that we are confused on a higher level and about more important things."

saw this on another friends blog and couldn't help thinking that the couple should just be left alone, with their cup of coffee and some breathing room. Although that was my initial reaction, I quickly realized that the deep seated consumeristic worldview which has shaped my life was what emerged. I wanted the couple to be able to enter, sit back, relax and take in whatever they wanted.
Now, on the one hand the starbucks employees (and committed clientele) were perhaps overly "friendly," but my reaction to simply leave them alone was the other side of the coin which is not right either.
I think, at least for me, what frustrates me about this video is that it confirms for me that the majority of what we call "church" has very little to do with the priorities of Jesus and His Kingdom. On the one hand I wish more established churches would be open to transition, to refocus their priorities and begin to dream again, and on the other hand I just want to be a part of something grass roots that doesn't have the painful baggage of too many dead-end man-made traditions which hold it back from embracing and engaging the kingdom now.
Just one guys opinion...
